SB 432 Compliance: Infection Control Officer

California Health and Safety Code Section 1797.188 establishes notification requirements when prehospital emergency medical care personnel may have been exposed to a reportable communicable disease or condition while providing emergency medical or rescue services.

The law requires employers of prehospital emergency medical care personnel to designate an officer to receive communicable disease exposure notifications from health facilities and other appropriate agencies. The Designated Officer is responsible for ensuring affected personnel are notified in accordance with applicable state law.
