SB 272 - Catalog of Enterprise Systems

California Government Code Section 6270.5 requires local agencies to maintain a Catalog of Enterprise Systems and make the catalog publicly available. The catalog is intended to promote government transparency by providing the public with information about certain information technology systems used by public agencies.

An enterprise system generally includes a software application or computer system that collects, stores, exchanges, and analyzes information and is either used across multiple departments or contains information collected about the public and serves as a system of record.

For each applicable enterprise system, the District's catalog identifies:

• Current system vendor and product
• A brief description of the system's purpose
• General categories or types of data maintained
• The department that serves as the primary custodian
• How frequently data is collected
• How frequently data is updated

Certain systems are excluded from the definition of an enterprise system, including information technology security systems, physical access control systems, infrastructure and mechanical control systems, and systems related to 911 dispatch, operations, or emergency services.
