Station 31 Construction Update 5.21.21

The demolition inside the station has been completed! Rough in framing has been completed for the living quarters side of the fire station. This is the east side of the building. All concrete has been removed from the apparatus bay and front pad. The apparatus bay doors have been removed on both the front entrance and rear of the station. Mechanical such as wiring, plumbing, and HVAC work has began throughout the station. The contractor has added fencing to the front and rear of the station to secure the building. Our August completion date is now looking more like sometime before or during October of 2021. Our contractors, the architect, and their sub contractors have all done a great job identifying areas that needed attention. As with any remodel project, we will have unknowns. The entire team is working quickly to address each of these unknowns so that we finish the project within budget, and have a building that will serve the public for many years to come.

In the next few weeks we will see more work to the outside to ensure ADA Access and continued work with mechanical systems. We are also looking forward to the sheet rock being installed on the walls and ceilings. So pardon our dust, but hopefully the next report includes some discussion about the exterior of the building!

Just a reminder that the shift Battalion Chief is still responding to calls from this site and carries with them valuable tools like a mechanical CPR device, defibrillator, and other essential equipment.
