Lathrop Manteca Fire District

Used Oil Collection Service

Why recycle used oil and filters?
Because used motor oil never wears out.  It gets dirty, but it can be recycled, cleaned, and used again and again. Recycling used motor oil conserves a natural resource (oil) and is good for the environment too!  Motor oil contains heavy metals and other hazardous materials.  When poured onto the ground or into storm drains, or tossed into the trash (even in a sealed container), it can contaminate and pollute the soil, groundwater, streams, and rivers. Recycling your used motor oil reduces this pollution threat. When you take your used oil to a certified center for recycling, you are protecting the environment and conserving a valuable resource, reducing our reliance on foreign exports. That's a winning combination!  Oil filters are easily recycled as well.  They contain a lot of used oil (that is difficult to fully drain without special equipment) and valuable metals.

The Lathrop Manteca Fire District is a certified used oil & filter collection site!

The Fire District has partnered with San Joaquin County, and the State of California to allow our local residents the ability to drop off used oil and filters.  The collection site was entirely paid for by grant/program funds from the State.

Fire Station 31 serves as our collection site.  To ensure we serve you in the most efficient manner possible, please utilize the contact information below.  All that's needed is a phone call to make sure our firefighters will be at the station (pending an emergency), and the means to transport the oil to our site.  Oil may not be contaminated with polar solvents such as gasoline.  Firefighters may take motor oil, transmission fluid, and many other forms of oil. Unfortunately firefighters can not dispose of your transportation container.
